Herniated disc and Sciatic pain help?

i am very active and still in my teen years. I hearniated my disc (L4 L5) and have sciatic pain in my left leg and numbness in my foot and knee. The worst part of all is that i am unable to stand up straight and when i am standing i cant lift my head. the tear is 6mm by 16mm. About 3 months ago after a hockey game i noticed what felt like a pulled muscle, so i just ignored it but over the next month, it got worse and worse. For 4 weeks now i have been going to physio therapy where we have been useing laser treatment, electrio therapy, and traction and so far it is the same pain wise but i am able to stand up slightly straight but i still cant raise my head and i still have the numbness . my docter mentioned surgery and i am a little sceptical about that because i am only 18 years old. i would like to know how long people are out for with this injury? What about chiropractor? Have they helped anyone?
Answer:
if the disc is herniated, there is nothing much you can do to cue it
you need the surgerythe herniated disc compressed on the spinal nerves, which are causing the painthose discs won't grow back to their normal places, unlikelyyou can try to see another doctor for a second opinion
I herniated 3 discs in my neck and even though it took several weeks just to be able to move, my chiropractor helped big time. Avoid surgery at all costs, often it only leads to more problems.
Be very careful of the chiropractor with a herniated disc. They are great for some things but not that. I have had 3 surgeries on my L5-S1, the last one with rods, pins and fusion. I have been disabled for 6 years following an auto accident. I currently go to a pain clinic regularly and am having another rhizitomy next week. Please weigh all your options before having surgery. Sometimes though, it is the only option.
consider calling a chiropractor that has a massage therapist that works on site. i know that massage can significantly help with the sciatic pains and can probably also help out a great deal with pain from the h.d, they will just probably need a info from your doctor first. some massage therapists accept insurance, and some insurances pay for massage therapy if the doctor prescribes it, while some even pay for it with out a doctors prescription.
I am so sorry you are experiencing this. for a herniated disc you may find that you will have to settle for pain management and not a full healing. A chiropractor who uses the BEST technique, Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique, is a good bet. Avoid a chiropractor who wants to twist or jar you. Another person to seek out is a massage therapist who is experienced in clinical treatments, or sports therapy. Not every person out there doing massage knows what to do or not to do for you. One last suggestion is to seek a massage therapist who does Manual Lymph Drainage. I know it's your disc, but you probably still have a lot of swelling around the injury and MLD will decrease it. Less swelling results into less pain. Good luck. To find a great massage therapist in your area go to www.amtamassage.org

Hernia exploded or disappeared?

My husband has had a hernia in his stomach for a couple of years now. A couple of days ago, he was working on the truck. He had a sudden pain, now the hernia seems to have disappeared, he says his stomach hurts really bad for about two days now. Has anyone ever heard of a hernia dosappearing or exploding. He says hus stomach really hurts, but I can no longer see the hernia!!
Answer:
Go to the doctor like right now. Why didn't you guys get it taken out or fixed? Do you know what the term 'bowels burst asunder' means?
Did you ever hear that song by Wierd Al called, 'Living with a Hernia' a parody on 'Living in America'?
GO!

Answer:
He needs to get to a doctor immediately!! The pain could come from a ruptured hernia. This could cause periotitis which can be lethal if not caught in time. GO NOW!!! ENERGENCY ROOM NOW!!
maybe you should take him to the emergency room! omg
Um..not exploding..but some serious crap can happen. Literally. SO..E.R. right now. Go. Seriously.
If he is hurting he might aught to go to the doctor. A hernia can not explode. A hernia is a separation of tissue where there should not be a separation. It is possible that something has slipped into the hernia and is trapped in the wrong place, which could be fatal under the right conditions.
A herniation can rupture or become strangulated and become necrotic; I would get him to the ER NOW.
There is no term like exploding of hernia. And madam certainly some times hernias may sort of disappear. Your husband probably had an epigastric hernia and that too omentocoele. And while exerting either it has regressed or
disappeared. The best thing for you is to have him checked by a surgeon.
You gotta read this article...http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders...andhttp://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders...either way he needs to go see a doctor to get checked out for safety sake.I have lived my life without being able to afford Ins. but we make too much $$$ to get govt. assistance, but I would rather pay a doctor or hospital for 10 years then live without my husband or have him live in pain.
Please , if you have to sedate him and have a few friends carry him to the ER, please get him seen.Good Luck! God Bless!
You haven't taken him to emergency? Get him there now.

Heres an odd question...?

How many teeth do you have? I have 27....im just trying to figure out the average of most ppl.
Answer:
Children are suppose to have 20 teeth by the time they reach 3 yrs old. This according to my daughter's dentist.I have had my wisdom teeth out and I have 27 teeth. I'm pretty sure you are suppose to have an even number of teeth though because when I was younger the dentist told me I had a tooth that was just hiding in my gums. Your suppose to have 4 teeth on the bottom in the front and I only have 3. So that's where my 28th tooth is. If you haven't had your wisdom teeth removed then yes you could have 32 teeth. Hope I helped!
32 ...thats how many adults r supposed to have.
You look worried about an odd figure.
Teeth will not be in an even figure always.
Do not worry.
32
i have 27 but im only 16

Here's an a question, what is the least amount of sleep a average human being can last on?

here's an a question, what is the least amount of sleep a average human being can last on, please note there is different capabilities between both genders lol
Answer:
Every person is different.
Personally, the least I sleep the less im tired.
But I think the least amount of sleep I can last on is about 30 hours in one week.
It was just announced on the net that a man just went a record 11 days without sleep.
How much Sleep do people need? The average amount of daily sleep for young adults is 7.5 hours. However, there is considerable variability in how long people sleep. Sleep needs vary from person to person. Asking how much sleep the average person needs isn't a very useful question, much like asking what shoe size the average person needs. If everyone were given average-size shoes to wear, most people would be very uncomfortable. Can short naps be refreshing? Some naps are beneficial and some are not. The effectiveness of napping varies from person to person. Also, the benefits of any specific nap depend on the time of day and the amount of sleep one has had recently. On the negative side, naps are not very efficient ways to sleep because you're often just getting into the deeper stage of sleep when your nap time is up. Another potential problem is that overly long naps ( more than 2 hours) or naps that occur too close to bedtime can disrupt nighttime sleep. On the positive side, most naps enhance subsequent alertness and reduce sleepiness. Evidence also suggests that naps can help offset the effects of frequent nighttime awakenings in older people. In conclusion, naps can be refreshing for most people, and they can be beneficial in the long run if they don't interfere with nighttime sleep.
How to Sleep:
Go to bed at the same time every night, including weekends.Get enough sleep every night to be fully alert all day.Get up at the same time every morning, without an alarm, seven days a week.Remember, sleep debt is like a bank account. Put back what you take out.If you are unable to obtain adequate nocturnal sleep, take a 15-20 minute "power nap" when you feel drowsy in the afternoon.Avoid alcohol within two hours of bedtime.Stop smoking.Reduce caffeine intake from coffee, sodas and chocolate after 2 p.m.Exercise daily and eat a proper diet.Be sure your bedroom is quiet, dark and cool.Periodically check the level of comfort and support of your mattress and pillow.Create a relaxing atmosphere in the bedroom, free from stress and tension.Take a hot bath or do stretching before bedtime. If your mind is focused on work and worries at bedtime, write down your concerns on "worry cards."Develop a ritual of reading for pleasure before you turn off the lights each night.
It may be that 10 hours of sleep a day is normal for human beings; certainly most of us function better with at least eight hours,

Here lately my back has been hurting really bad.?

Is there a direct corolation between a person matress and lower back pain? I can't afford a really expensive matress if there is. Do you have any suggestions.xoxoxoxox
Answer:
there are correlations but in basic laws of logic correlation doesn't prove cause and affect. If your having back pain and you've seen a specialist and they suggest better posture or more excerisice, basically saying there's nothing they can do, I suggest you do try those first attempts. Secondly, while a new mattress would be ideal, it usaully isn't ideal for our wallets since they can run in the thousands for a quality one. My suggestion is a mattress pad. I love those things. When I moved in with boyfriend he had one that was pretty nice. But when we got engaged I decided we needed to get a new one to have things be fresh. I went to walmart and got a great one. Walmart actually has really good quality brands on a lot of things. I also got myself a new pillow, since I had been having back pain aswell. The two worked. There are a wide assortment of pillows and pads that you can get to help your back. I suggest a polyester pillow stuffing that way its still great for your back and posture and cheaper cost. And for the mattress pad just feel around and read the labeling. They describe what is best for the results that you are seeking. Good luck with your search
You don't think it could be a kidney infection do you? Any fever? Yes, low back pain can come from a bad mattress. When my back hurts I have one of those big exercise balls and lay on it in the small of my back and it really feels good after a while.
Yes, although there are a number of different reasons for back pain. Did you know that Louise Hay "You Can Heal Your Own Life" says that people experiencing lower back pain feel unsupported financially, so transfer that frustration to their body. I too have a sore back and not much money for a good mattress. My long term plan is to get a good mattress on H.P. as soon as I can afford it but in the short term, make sure I am doing stretches and yoga, and thinking about lifting and bending so not to put more stress on my back.
just put a piece of plywood between your boxspring and your mattress its just o soft spot in your bed. you must have children or you've been real busy. just try it

Hep its urgent!!!!!! please?

ok welllast night i tryed 2 b bulimic, an stick me finger down me throat after i had a pizza cos i regretted it so much an i didnt throw up like i put it all the way down then wen i got a tingle feeling i jus took me fingers out,plz dnt say dnt so it! jus tell me how 2 do it plz!

DON'T DO IT!
People with eating disorders are losers. Why don't you just draw an 'L' on your forehead.
You must be INSANE if you think that anyone here is going to teach you how to have an eating disorder. How about just not putting the food in your mouth to begin with. Watch what you eat. Eat in moderation. Do you know how many health problems come along with bulemia? Your stomach acid eats at your esophagus. It rots away your teeth. You can inhale it in your lungs and it'll burn the inside of your lungs and can cause pneumonia. You can end up with vitamin and electrolyte deficiencies which can screw up your heart.
Grow up. Over 50% of people on planet Earth are dying of illnesses stemming from not eating enough. Stop being a stupid fat glutton.
The first thing that you need to ask yourself is why do you want to do this? Real bulimics have control issues and are normally in a severe depression. You may be experiencing a low to even let the thought cross your mind but don't continue to act on it as it will develop into something you will lose control of and not win.Try to talk to someone about the underlying issues that are making you feel so low about yourself and it might help you handle these negative thoughts you are having. I will not tell you how to do it and anyone that does needs to seek proffesional help also. Trust me... this is not a game you want to play with.
Hi there, first of all I'd just like to say there are alot of insensitive IDIOTS on here that will call you names and say that you're just some silly little girl. really not helping guys. As a male thats suffered from an eating disorder, I totally agree with lovely, this is not somthing that you want to play with. It can cause some very serious health issues and potentally even death. I myself was anorexic but thats a long and involved story for a different day. If you're serious about this there is a purgitive called syrip of ipicak (I hope I spelt that correctly) thats on the market that induces vomiting. Its mainly used in poisioning cases but could be used for your intentions. I really don't recomend this though like I said (the thing about your teath being eroded by stomach acid is correct and you won't look good if your thin with out a pretty smile). Another alternative would be to use laxitives but once again this is dangerous and potentially very harmful, and lets face it no one wants to have chronic dioreha all day every day. I think that you should try getting some healthy exercise and eat a ballanced diet, thats really the best way I rekn but its your body, your choice, and your mistakes to make along the way. consider yourself well informed.
