Hiccups....HELP?!?!?!?

I have had the hiccups for about an *hiccup* hour now, is there anyone who knows how to cure these darn things? *hiccup* Please I am desperate!! *hiccup*
Answer:
okay, laugh, but this works for me and my sister.a teaspoon of plain sugar. just eat it. i think it stops the cramping of the diaphragm.
Sip of water - deep breath - repeat for about six times. Should work.
Well try drinking a lot of water..Tht usually helps when i get the hiccups..Best of luck..U can also take deep breaths..
Drink a litre of water, then stand upside down on your head.if all of the above fails, try playing chicken in your car with a truck.
Look at your feet for 30 seconds. Its magic .
Spoonful of vinegar works instantly!
-suck on a lemon wedge
-pour a teaspoon of sugar down your throat
-put a straw under your tongue, (horizontally-each side sticking out of the left and right side of your mouth) and drink a glass of water
-stand w/ your back super straight against a wall, drink water
slowly drink 9 sips of water without taking a break in between or taking your lips off the glass.
nope i hate them sorry there is no way to make them go away people say its because yo do not have enough oxigen i your lungs so try to brethe in deeply and hope you get better sorry
goto the local bar/pub - ask them for bitters... i had the hiccups at a bar - bartender gave me bitters - gone!
PUT SUGAR ON THE TIP OF YOUR TONGUE AND SWALLOW A BIG GULP OF WATER OR THE OLD FASHIONED WAY LET SOMEONE CREEP UP ON YOU AND BE SCARED
Get a glass of water, take a small sip, then take a breath, take another small sip, then take a breath.Do this 9 or 10 times or so.Always works for me!!
This always works for me....While holding your breath, take around 7 sips of water. I always take small, slow sips. Works every time! (If you happen to hiccup in between the sips, then start all over again.)
raw lemon/lime juice.just a squirt
BOOO!
Place a pillow next to the wall. With help, stand on your head. Once upside down, have your helper feed you a glass of water. Drink until the glass is gone. This works evertime without failure.
if there is someone else there with you have them push on the little cartilage nobbies that stick out on your ears, right where it start to go into your innerear part and then while they are doing this take 10 small sips of water fast without breathing. I have 100% success rate with this.
I saw someone on TV say that hiccups is cause by having too much oxygen in your lungs. So you need to deprive your lungs.
Take a normal breathe, then blow out, and keep blowing. Keep pushing all the air out until you feel your lungs are empty.
Then do it again.
Hiccups. They are very annoying. Have you tried the "all-known" cures for them?
Such as:
Holding your breath or getting someone to scare you?I find that drinking water helps. Or lay on your side. ( It works, I've done it many times)Not trying to scare you but my father, his best friend had the hiccups for three months. Just an interesting tidbit to make the day go by. and maybe get rid of the hiccups lol. =]
okay, this sounds really bizaree but I swear it works. Find a pen and pour yourself a glass of water. Now, stick the pen in your mouth like...like...like a dog would chew on a bone I guess. Now, while your teeth are still holding the pen, try to drink the glass of water. You might spill a little, but you only need a sip of water. And, somehow that cures hiccups. It's something about the way you swallow the water.
That's a bit complicated, though, lol. Usually I just wait them out.
Take a few short breaths as fast as you can and then take a deep breath and hold it.
Sip water while your holding your breath and tilt your head back sharply with every swallow.
Repeat until you cannot hold your breath any longer.
Then take another deep breath and drink the rest of the water in glass in one gulp as fast as you can.
What works for me:Take a drink of something but BEFORE you swallow..tilt your head back..then swallow! Works every time for me. Hope this helps.
hold your breath,,,,,,,which means you will have to shut your mouth for at least a minute all while holding your breath,,,,hiccups are breathing related,,stop breathing for a period,,always worked for me
if you can safely use it, then shake a little salt onto your hand palm and lick it, while Pinching your noise and holding you breath few minutes.
Few drops of Tabasco sauce in a 4 oz glass of cold water and drink it, the old tradition medicine helped me. Try it, hope you feel better soon.
For the tips of the day.
The only thing that works for me is to hold my breath. Also, once I heard that hiccups is just a severe form of heartburn, so taking an antacid might help too.
Hiccups are abrupt involuntary contractions of the diaphragm that causes an intake of breath and closes the sound-producing folds at the top of the windpipe (vocal cords), resulting in a convulsive gaspThe contractions of the diaphragm is said to be commonly induced by minor stomach upsets. That's why most of the answers above has something to do in soothing the stomach with water or sugar. Some are secondary to a psychogenic cause, meaning arising from a mental or emotional processes or originating in mental or emotional rather than in physiological processes. Thus some hiccups are consistent even with first aids, thus it needs a psychotic drug. For your first aid aside from water and sugar, Dill tea is popularly used to soothe hiccups, and ailments ranging from flatulence to insomnia.
