today.i hit my head so hard that i saw a bug white flash for like...1 second, and i have a big bump on my forehead.and my head (inside) hurts and the bump itself hurt a little teeny bit... could i have a little concussion? and if i did...is that bad? what do i do? what will happen if i don't get it looked at?
Answer:
if you feel dizzy, sick, or your vision is blurry it might be concussion. It would be a good idea to get checked out by a doctor
this would be a concussion. treat your pain with advil or tylenol, rest, and see a doctor if your symptoms become more severe.
If its bothering you you should really go see your doc,its always good to check it out expecually if your head, lots of things can happen so go get it checked out.
Concussions are caused by trauma to the brain. This happens when the brain collides with the skull. "Wierd" symptoms can occur and "concussions can worsen over time. For instance, a person may seem fine right after the injury. But strange symptoms develop hours or days later. In severe cases, worsening symptoms can be a sign that a blood clot is pushing the brain against the skull." Rest is prescribed and a person may need to be monitored at a hospital for a little while.
anytime you have a head injury-you should be evaluated within 24 hours (immediately if you passed out). being that you saw a "white flash" i would say that you passed out briefly and you really should have someone take you to the er or nearest urgent care.this could be a mild concussion and will hurt for a while.if you have it evaluated at an emergency room, they might take some head xrays to make sure you didnt fracture your skull and they might also do a head ct scan (a 3-d image of the brain taken w/ a special machine-does not hurt) to make sure you didnt seriously injure your brain (bruised it or have a small bleed somewhere). if you have a concussion-they'll send you home with some pain medication and tell you to rest as much as possible (and to have someone their to watch over you).do not take anything (tylenol, motrin, etc) until seen by a dr. these medications thin the blood and in the rare event that you have a brain bleed-they could make it worse if you take them. and do NOT drive yourself. if there is nobody there to take you-call 911 and have an ambulance drive you.head injuries can start out simple but can turn into a serious condition in an instant. i work in trauma icu and i've had several patients who have fallen days before coming to the hospital only to find out they had injured their brain and are now in my icu b/c they waited to long to have it looked out. it's better to be safe than sorry-especially with head injuries.
Because the brain is the controlling organ for the body, injuries to the head are potentailly dangerous and always require medical attention.
Concussion is an altered state of consciousness caused by a blow to the head or neck.. There is always possibility of serious brain injury.
Look out for temporary loss of consciousness, headache, amnesia, altered response to commands and touch, blood or clear fluid from nose or ears, pupils that become unequal in size and blurred vision. You need to be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.
Ok doing Martial Arts I have had my share of concussions. it is true that you do see stars. Man it is not fun. They don't really do anything for you at the hospital unless you are completely knocked out for a period of time. Make sure the bump isn't indented. If it is swollen and out then you are fine. Just take it easy. Put some ice on it to get the swelling to go down. If things get too awfully bad call 911. I am sure you will be fine. You will have a nice bump and a headache for awhile. My last bump didn't go away for over a month and the headache lasted for days. I wish you the best. Hang in there.
You should really get it looked at, you could have hurt yourself more than you know. I know with a concussion you鈥檙e supposed to stay up for like 24 hours cause there is a chance if you fall asleep you could slip into a coma. Go to the doctor.
